IFAT CHINA features a first-class, wide-ranging Accompanying Program

Following the great success of the last event, IFAT CHINA 2008 will again be featuring a high-ranking Accompanying Program when it takes place at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) from 23 to 25 September. As well as the Technical Scientific Conferences, there will be theme specials, workshops, the Sino-German Green Business Day, the CARCU Forum, Exhibitor Presentations, B2B Matchmaking for Exhibitors, university stands and the Green Circle Lounge.

This year’s IFAT CHINA starts with the official Opening Ceremony on Tuesday, 23 September at 10:00 in the forum in Hall E5. The speakers expected at this event are: Xiao Yaqing, Chairman of the Chinese partner of IFAT CHINA, CARCU – the China Association of Resources Comprehensive Utilization, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the German Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, Astrid Klug, and keynote speaker Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Klaus Töpfer, former Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).

Two of the highlights in the Accompanying Program will be the daily Technical Scientific Conferences spanning the themes of water supply, sewage, solid waste, air and renewable energy, plus the China Emissions and Resources Utilization Forum 2008, which takes place on Tuesday, 23 September from 13:30 to 17:00, Wednesday, 24 September from 9:30 to 16:30 and Thursday, 25 September from 9:30 to 15:00, in Hall E5. The lectures in this forum will – amongst others – cover a range of aspects concerned with the sustainable use of resources.

Another highly topical theme is explored in the 'Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Environmental Technology/Equipment Development Forum' taking place on Tuesday, 23 September from 13:45. Here experts will be presenting current development possibilities and potential CDM projects for the Chinese market.

Also on Tuesday, 23 September, from 14:00 to 17:00, is the 'Sino-German Green Business Day' featuring lectures on the active role of companies in improving energy and resource efficiency, and the official founding of PREMAnet China. This is a network of companies and trainers who practice profitable environmental management (PREMA®) to make their production processes more environmentally friendly. Guest speakers here include Astrid Klug and Prof. Dr. Klaus Töpfer.

In parallel with the 'Sino-German Green Business Day' the German Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety is organizing a workshop on 'Energy Efficiency in Water Supply and Waste Water Treatment' (14:00 to 16:30). The focus of this workshop will be on reducing the energy consumption of sewage plants and efficient use of energy from sludge; it is directed at experts in the water and energy industry.

At the Asia Special on 'The Environmental Market in Asia: Technology, Transfer, Cooperation', on Wednesday, 24 September from 10:00 to 12:00, visitors can pick up background information and facts on the Asian environmental market and learn about the prospects for cooperations between China, Japan, Vietnam and Germany on environmental issues and problems. This special is being organized in cooperation with the German Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.

In the Environment Special on 'Ecology meets Economy', organized in cooperation with the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment, Public Health and Consumer Protection, experts and government authorities will be presenting the environmental protection measures and technologies of the Bavarian Ministry and its partners. This special takes place on Thursday, 25 September from 10:00 to 17:00.

The exhibitors at IFAT CHINA also have the opportunity of making use of the 'B2B Matchmaking on Environmental Technologies' to meet potential business partners for a face-to-face talk. This event is being organized by the German Federation of Industrial Cooperative Research Associations (Arbeitsgemeinschaft industrieller Forschungsvereinigungen - AiF) and the International Technology Cooperation Network (intec.net) in cooperation with the delegation of the German Industry and Commerce Shanghai (Deutsche Industrie- und Handelskammer); it takes place on Tuesday, 23 September from 13:30 to 17:00.

In addition, on Wednesday, 24 September, between 9:00 and 17:00, many Exhibitor Presentations will be taking place, at which the exhibitors can introduce their latest solutions, products and services to the trade visitors.

High-ranking national and international speakers are expected to attend all lectures and discussions. The events are integrated into the heart of the fair, and simultaneous interpretation is offered in English and Chinese. Entry to the events in the Accompanying Program is free to participants in IFAT CHINA 2008.

The Accompanying Program for IFAT CHINA 2008 will thus again be providing key players and trade visitors with an ideal platform for exchanging information, innovations and new ideas in the environmental sector.
Further information on the Accompanying Program to IFAT CHINA 2008 is available online at: http://www.ifat-china.com/en/Accompanyingprogram2008

Exhibitors and visitors can however benefit from a range of other initiatives at the fair: In addition to the university stands 'Science-Tec Area' and 'New-Tech Area', there will be a 'Green Circle Lounge' in Hall E6. The Green Circle is a joint initiative by MMI Shanghai and Kelly Services, who will be offering trade visitors to IFAT CHINA information on careers, training and personnel management. The main focus of the Green Circle Lounge is on environmental technology and related areas. Trade visitors can attend presentations on these themes in the Green Circle Lounge, talk to professional consultants here and forge new business contacts.

Taking place in parallel with IFAT CHINA 2008 in Halls E4 and E5 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre is the fourth analytica China, International Trade Fair for Analysis, Biotechnology, Diagnostics, Laboratory Technology and Services.
