- 362 exhibitors from 25 countries: + 27%
- 11,200 visitors from 72 countries: + 15%
- 50% Chinese exhibitors - strongest Chinese exhibitor participation ever
This year’s IFAT CHINA has certainly proved to be one of the most
important and most comprehensive trade fairs for the environmental
industry in Asia with more
exhibitors, featuring a significant increase of Chinese exhibitors, greater
exhibition space and more visitors. The third International Trade Fair for Water,
Sewage, Refuse, Recycling and Natural Energy Sources attracted 11,200
trade visitors from 72 countries even though the event had
been shortened from four to three days. This means an increase of 15 percent
compared to the previous event. The top five international visiting countries were
Japan, Thailand, Korea,
Germany and Vietnam in that
order.
“IFAT CHINA 2008 was very good in
terms of the quality and the variety of the attendees. It is an international
trade fair with a wide variety of visitors”, stated Tim Mc Dougle, Sales & Marketing Director of Veolia Water
Solutions & Technologies from France,
Shanghai
branch. Yanqing Chang, Vice General
Manager of Tianjin Baili Sun Environmental Protection Equipment Co., Ltd in China added: “IFAT CHINA
is a very international exhibition. This year we had more visitors than during
the previous two shows and we were frankly out of breath talking to all the visitors”.
The Sales Director for Waste Management & Recycling at SSI Schäfer
in Germany, Ludwig Sahm, concluded:
“IFAT CHINA is the most
important environmental trade fair in China. It would have been a pity if
we had not been here.”
At IFAT CHINA 2008, the demand for exhibition
space was stronger than ever and grew by 50 percent. All in all, 362 companies from 25 countries presented their
new products and services from 23 to 25 September in the Shanghai New
International Expo Centre (SNIEC). In
comparison to the last IFAT CHINA
in 2006 this means an increase of 27 percent with
regard to exhibitor numbers. The top five exhibiting countries were China, Germany,
Korea, the USA
and Italy
in that order. Additionally, IFAT CHINA
featured five joint participations from Austria,
Germany, United Kingdom, Korea
and Switzerland.
Further particularly good news was the
considerable increase in the number of Chinese exhibitors by more than 90
percent to 179 compared to 94 exhibitors at IFAT CHINA 2006. “The enormous
participation of Chinese exhibitors and the fantastic feedback of our
international exhibitors show in an impressive manner that IFAT CHINA has definitely
established itself as the major business platform for environmental
solutions and technologies in Asia”, said
Eugen Egetenmeir, Deputy Managing Director of Messe Muenchen International.
Jianzeng Wang, Vice Chairmen of the
China Association of Resources Comprehensive Utilization (CARCU),
together with
Messe Muenchen International organizer of IFAT CHINA,
also confirmed the significance of IFAT CHINA
for the environmental market in Asia and especially in China:
“This year, IFAT CHINA has strengthened its internationality and
grown to become an influential exhibition in Asia.
The participation of national exhibitors has been growing since the
first show
which is strong evidence that IFAT CHINA is an attractive trade fair in
China.
There are a lot of similar exhibitions but IFAT CHINA enjoys better
internationality and exhibitor quality.”
Just as for the past two events,
IFAT CHINA
once again received great support from national and international governmental
authorities. Astrid Klug, Parliamentary State Secretary
at the German Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear
Safety reviewing the development of IFAT CHINA
during her visit to this year’s show, said: “IFAT CHINA took a
great step forward in terms of exhibitor numbers, Chinese participation and the
overall presentation. No other environmental trade fair in China provides so many high-ranking
exhibitors and technical innovations.” The President of the Bavarian
Environment Agency, who represented the Bavarian State Minister of the
Environment, Public Health and Consumer Protection, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Albert Goettle,
stated: “Trade fairs are the most suitable instrument to showcase environmental
technologies. IFAT CHINA
has a very good concept and adequately demonstrates the variety and complexity
of the different environmental technologies.”
The conference program,
including technical and scientific conferences, which were organized by
the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA), with special themes,
exhibitor presentations and B2B matchmaking for exhibitors once again received
a fantastic feedback. All in all more than 130 speakers were involved in over 120 lectures where experts
and audience could meet and discuss the current status of
environmental technology. Nearly 5,300 trade visitors came to the forums, lectures
and workshops.
Besides the conference program, visitors and
exhibitors of this year’s IFAT CHINA
were provided with more benefits: Being held in parallel with IFAT
CHINA
was the fourth edition of analytica China, the International Trade Fair
for Analysis, Biotechnology, Diagnostics, Laboratory Technology and
Services. This
tandem arrangement gave visitors and exhibitors of both fairs the
opportunity
of knowledge transfer, particularly in the areas of instrumental
analysis,
laboratory technology and biotechnology. In addition to the 11,200 IFAT
CHINA visitors, a further 2,700 visitors of analytica China visited
IFAT CHINA confirming
the synergies between the two shows. “Cycle waste management is
more important
than ever. IFAT CHINA
was established just at the right point of time and it will be a very
important
trade fair in the future as well. IFAT CHINA
and analytica China
definitely complemented one another. This co-location proved to be
excellent”,
said the Former Executive Director of the
United Nations Environment Programme, Prof.
Dr. Dr. h.c. Klaus Toepfer during his visit at
IFAT CHINA.
